Former Houston Mayor Annise Parker announced Wednesday that she is her running for Harris County Judge in the November 2026 election.

If Hidalgo decides to seek another term, she and Parker would face off in the March 2026 Democratic primary.

Earlier this month, the Houston BCycle bike sharing service announced that it would be closing on June 30. As that day approaches, the City of Houston has begun the process of collecting all the bikes.

The Houston BCycle bike sharing program has announced that it will be shutting down its service on June 30 after operating for 12 years.The service started back in 2012, when the City of Houston began a contractual agreement with Houston Bike Share. HOUSTON – The voices calling for transparency and independent police oversight grew louder following several recent officer-involved shootings and the death of George Floyd. Houston has a long-established independent police oversight board, but critics question whether the board is given enough authority. “The structure and the bones are there for the oversight board but it needs to be built upon.”President of the Houston Police Officers’ Union Joe Gamaldi argues the oversight board has a “robust set of powers.”“We have embraced the independent oversight board, we are not scared of another set of eyes.
