A Harris County medical examiner has ruled the manner of death of a 32-year-old man involved in a struggle with detention officers while being escorted out of the Harris County Jail a homicide.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is set to release a pivotal video capturing the moments leading up to the tragic death of a man who was involved in an altercation with detention officers while being released from the Harris County Jail.

The sheriff’s office said it happened early Tuesday morning. The office says Alexis Jovany Cardenas was released from custody at 12:50 a.m. and was being escorted to an exit door when he physically resisted detention officers as they attempted to walk him outside the building.
