HOUSTON, Texas – The 2025 Lombardi Award finalists were revealed on the KPRC 2+ livestream Tuesday morning.

The four finalists were announced in alphabetical order:

  • David Bailey, LB, Texas Tech
  • Cashius Howell, DE, Texas A&M
  • Kadyn Proctor, LT, Alabama
  • Jacob Rodriguez, LB, Texas Tech

Finalists for the Lombardi Award are typically some of the nation’s most impactful players, and this year is no exception. Bailey leads all of FBS in total sacks with 12.5. Howell leads the country with 1.15 sacks per game. Alabama’s Proctor has anchored the Tide’s offensive line through the entire season, and Roriguez is one of the nation’s most feared linebackers.

About the award

The Lombardi Award was created in 1970 following the death of legendary coach Vince Lombardi, who is remembered as one of the most influential figures in football. With permission from Lombardi’s widow, Marie, and his sister, Madeline Lombardi Werner, the Rotary Club of Houston established the award to honor players who demonstrate elite performance, discipline and character.

Proceeds from the annual Lombardi Gala support cancer research and families affected by the disease, continuing the mission the Lombardi family envisioned. Supporters can donate directly or contribute through items such as the Lombardi Build-A-Bear, raffle tickets or a fifty-dollar lantern honoring a loved one.

Last year, Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. won the Lombardi Award. After a decorated career with the Longhorns, he was selected ninth overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2025 NFL Draft.
