HOUSTON – The Texans signed veteran defensive tackle Marlon Davidson after a successful workout, per a league source.

The Texans needed depth at defensive tackle after losing rookie Kyonte Hamilton to a fractured ankle that required surgery. He was formally placed on injured reserve Friday.

Davidson worked out Thursday along with nose tackle Kevin Hester and linebacker Oshane Ximines, per a league source.

Davidson, 27, is a former Atlanta Falcons second-round draft pick who has also played for the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans.

Davidson (6-foot-3, 303 pounds has recorded 39 career tackles, two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery. He’s a former All-Southeastern Conference selection at Auburn.
