Retired Texans star Andre Johnson’s Pro Football Hall of Fame ring among items stolen, Lil Keke seeks community’s help

HOUSTON – Retired Houston Texans star wide receiver Andre Johnson is the victim of a burglary at his home, according to rapper and friend Lil Keke.

Lil Keke shared an emotional social media message asking for the public’s help to recover the stolen items.

KPRC 2 has learned that among the missing items, Lil Keke hopes the community will help Johnson recover: his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.

KPRC 2 has confirmed with a source that several sentimental football items were stolen from Johnson’s Houston area home that are special to him and commemorate his NFL career, in addition to jewelry. Law enforcement is conducting an investigation.

Lil Keke disclosed the situation on social media in a video post detailing the incident involving the former All-Pro wide receiver. He asked for help from the general public to attempt to recover the stolen items.

“Andre Johnson is my brother,” Lil Keke said on Instagram. “He’s the first Houston Texans Hall of Famer. He dedicated his life here, his career here, and also he resides here as a Houstonian. That makes it much, much more important. Man, we family. It’s a family message.

“Over the weekend, someone broke into my brother’s home and took some items that represent his legacy, represent his dedication, his hard work, his family. We need to recover that and get that back. This isn’t like a car or a jersey hanging around. This represents his career and his family, for real.”

Johnson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last summer in Canton, Ohio. He is the first Texans player in franchise history to be named to the Hall of Fame and was honored in his third year of eligibility and as a finalist. Johnson is known for his philanthropic efforts off the field.

Johnson, 44, is a former Texans first-round draft pick from the University of Miami who was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, a two-time All-Pro and led the NFL in catches twice and receiving yards twice. He is a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, the Houston Sports Hall of Fame and the Texans’ Ring of Honor.

Johnson finished his career in 2016 and caught 1,062 career passes for 14,185 yards and 70 touchdowns. He averaged 13.4 yards per catch for his career.

Johnson attended a Texans training camp practice on Saturday, hanging out with Cal McNair, Hannah McNair and players, including Tank Dell.

“Let’s come together as a Houston family and put ears to the street, our nose to the ground as a Houston family and find out who got these items and recover them and get them back to our brother,” Lil Keke said. “They represent much much more than some money. He family, we family. Let’s get that did. Big salute, Houston.”
