Texans sign seventh-round tight end Luke Lachey to four-year, $3.46 million deal

HOUSTON – The Texans signed seventh-round tight end Luke Lachey to a four-year, $3.46 million deal that includes a $101,672 signing bonus.

The Texans drafted the Iowa standout in the seventh round with their final pick of the draft.

The son of retired NFL offensive tackle Jim Lachey, Lachey is a big tight end at 6-foot-6, 251 pounds.

He’s a blocking tight end with solid hands. He has run the 40-yard dash in 4.86 seconds with a 35-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot broad jump.

Lachey caught 28 passes for 231 yards last season. He caught 10 passes for 131 yards two seasons ago. As a sophomore, he caught 28 passes for 398 yards and four touchdowns.
