“We are so excited to welcome Coach Frank Ross into the JCU Athletics Hall of Fame,” JCU athletics director Brian Polian wrote on social media. “He represents excellence - in his athletic achievements, in his profession, and in his character. He is a true Man of Carroll.”

Ross is part of a large group of John Carroll alums working for the Texans and around the NFL, including general manager Nick Caserio, director of pro personnel D.J. Debick and senior offensive assistant Jerry Schuplinski and offensive coordinator Nick Caley, a former student assistant, along with Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco, former NFL linebacker London Fletcher, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman, Hall of Fame coach Don Shula, former Las Vegas Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler and former Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell.

At JCU, Ross, a Youngstown, Ohio native, was the Blue Streaks’ all-time leader in catches.

A former New England Patriots scout who earned a Super Bowl ring in 2017 and JCU quarterbacks coach, special teams coordinator and running backs coach, Ross was an assistant special teams coach with the Indianapolis Colts.

He was hired by the Texans in 2021 for David Culley’s staff and was retained by coach Lovie Smith and then current coach DeMeco Ryans.

In the community, Ross is extremely active with his work with the homeless through his Coach’s Cuts annual program.

At JCU, he was an all-conference selection. He caught a school-record 17 passes for 228 yards with 251 all-purpose yards in a 2009 game against the Capital Crusaders.

Ross is a converted quarterback who earned $14,000 for the football program on an episode of Deal or No Deal.
