When you look at the area powerhouses when it comes to high school girls soccer the Stratford Spartans are certainly high on the list.
Stratford once again made this spring one season to remember as they battled their way through the regular season and postseason and eventually landed in Georgetown to compete for the 6A State Championship.
Among the standouts on the Spartans squad was senior forward Allison Goodwin. She’s a leader on and off the pitch but likes the accolades to be shared throughout the team.
“I like how they look up to me but I don’t like the spotlight,” Goodwin told KPRC 2 Sports. “I like being equal and enjoy the chemistry. It’s a team effort.”
“She gets doubled and triple teamed alot,” said Stratford Head Coach David Walters. “ It happened alot vs. Katy Jordan. She fought hard through the game tying goal that led us to the win. She’s a workhorse out there.”
Goodwin finished the season with 28 goals and was the district MVP. She has signed on to play collegiately at Auburn.
