MISSOURI CITY – This week’s UTMB Health / KPRC 2 Sports Athlete of the Week hails from the Fort Bend ISD basketball powerhouse program at Hightower High School.
The Hurricanes girls program is fresh off of a 6A Division two state semifinal win over Churchill and now is one victory shy of earning the school’s first-ever state championship.
The Canes girls play Fort Worth Boswell on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Head Coach Jasmine Brewer, who played at Hightower and led the team to state in 2010, has her Hightower team 34-5 heading to the title game.
Brewer’s squad is loaded with talent and one that stands out is senior Kailee Beaudion.
Beaudion has been in the program and has helped maintain the culture for the girl’s program at Hightower which is making its 4th trip to state and now 2nd appearance in the title game.
