HOUSTON – At Clear Creek ISD’s Clear Creek High School, the girls basketball program has long been a Houston-area powerhouse. The consistency is something very few programs can maintain, but the Wildcats have managed to take steps each and every year.
Clear Creek again put together a fantastic season finishing 27-7 and coming out of district on a strong note. While the Wildcats were upset in round one, they can hold their heads high. One star on the team is senior Rileigh Hairston who just completed her fourth and final year in the program and she has certainly left her mark for the young players coming up through the ranks.
Hairston was nominated as the UTMB Health Athlete of the Week and as one of the teams top players and leaders she certainly is deserving.
“People look up to me and want that great experience and have that commitment and love for the sport,” said Hairston to KPRC 2 Sports
“Her smile is unmatched,” said Clear Creek Head Coach Travis Golden. “When she’s in the gym and smiling everyone feels that energy and thrives on it.”
Hairston closed out the season averaging 12 ppg and 5 rebounds per game as the Wildcats closed out the season with 27 wins.
Congrats to Rileigh Hairston for being our UTMB Health and KPRC 2 Athlete of the Week!
