Spring man pleads guilty to exchanging explicit messages, photos with teen girl

A man in Spring pleaded guilty to charges related to sending inappropriate messages and requesting explicit photos from a minor, U.S. Southern District of Texas Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced.

John Alberth, 52, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor.

The crimes happened between Aug. 23 and Oct. 5, 2023.

As part of the plea, Alberth admitted to exchanging messages with a 16-year-old girl, offering her money in exchange for explicit photos and sexual acts.

Law enforcement also recovered messages confirming that Alberth was aware of the victim’s age.

Alberth will remain in custody until his sentencing.

He is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 30, 2026.
