Threat against United flight from Houston prompts flight stoppage at Reagan National

The Federal Aviation Administration temporarily stopped all plane traffic at Reagan National Airport Tuesday afternoon after a reported threat against a United Airlines flight that departed from Houston earlier in the day, according to Reuters.

All passengers were safely taken off the plane, and the aircraft was moved away from the terminal while investigators conducted a thorough search. United says the aircraft has since been cleared by law enforcement and has taxied to the gate.

A person briefed on the situation told Reuters the investigation is being handled out of an “abundance of caution.”

United Airlines referred all questions to the FBI.

Flights have since begun departing again, but delays are possible as authorities continue their investigation.

KPRC 2 is monitoring this developing story and will update as more information becomes available.
