Houston named second least ‘green’ city in the US: WalletHub report

HOUSTON – Houston may be known for its big energy, but when it comes to being green, the Space City is near the bottom of the list.

Researchers at WalletHub looked into which cities promote a “green” lifestyle and compared 100 of the largest metro cities in the country across environmental friendliness and sustainability.

Its findings led Houston to be ranked 99th out of 100, right before Glendale, Arizona. Houston was also the lowest-ranked city in Texas, with Dallas coming in at 86th.

Houston also scored lowest on the number of greenhouse gas Emissions per capita, despite having a decent percentage of green spaces.

No Texas cities cracked the top of the list, though Austin came closest at 26th
