“Miss Reveille IX dutifully served our university as the official mascot of Texas A&M from May of 2015 until her retirement in April of 2021. As her predecessors have since 1931, Miss Reveille IX served as an unrelenting living symbol of the Aggie spirit, both on campus and into her retirement,” the university said. “Her passing is an immense loss for Texas A&M, the Corps of Cadets, Company E-2, Stevenson Center staff and Aggies everywhere.”

Details on Reveille IX’s funeral will be announced by the university once they are finalized.

Reveille IX retired in 2021. Her duties were passed on to Reveille X, who continues to serve as the current mascot of the university despite recent health issues.

In July, Reveille X had one of her eyes removed after being diagnosed with glaucoma. During the surgery to help relieve discomfort, the veterinary team discovered signs of abnormal tissue and decided out of an abundance of caution to remove her eye.

The university said Reveille X would take a brief hiatus, but the veterinary team said she is expected to be able to resume her full duties.
