According to Harris County Pct. 1 Constable Alan Rosen, two Dodge Chargers were racing at speeds near 100 mph when one slammed into an uninvolved SUV.

The Charger burst into flames after the impact, trapping the driver.

Authorities said the driver managed to escape. The driver was later charged with racing causing serious injury.

The occupants of the SUV suffered injuries, though officials confirmed none were life-threatening. No fatalities were reported from the incident.

The second Charger involved in the street race fled the scene and has not been apprehended.

“This could have easily been a deadly tragedy. You race, you lose – big time,” Rosen posted on his X account, emphasizing how fortunate it was that no lives were lost.

The investigation is ongoing as deputies work to locate the second driver.
