Located on Westheimer Road and Wilcrest Drive, Hyper Kidz is ideal for toddlers as young as 2 years old and energetic kids up to 13. The playground held its grand opening over the weekend, welcoming hundreds of families.
According to co-owners Vivek Chunduri, Venkat, and Ramya Rayapudi, there are several locations spread across the U.S., but its Westchase location marked the first in Houston AND Texas!
“This is one of the best areas in Houston, especially for families, and with the weather and the humidity, we felt like the community really needs this,” Venkat added. “The people around, we’ve gone through a lot of exercise of the demographics and everything, I mean, we thought this is a perfect location and we are happy we found it."
“Houston has a lot of scope for any of these kinds of projects, and Westheimer is one of the busiest roads in Houston,” Chunduri added. “But when you look at demographics around this area, it includes lots of families and children, with a lot of things happening around this place.”
With so much to do in the Houston area, how does Hyper Kidz stack up to the competition? The owners say it’s by putting the children’s safety first.
Much of this is evident in their soft foam play equipment with gentle, slow-moving parts. There are interactive activities where kids can run, climb, and jump without having to rely on “screens.”
“Our principles are like ‘Safe, Clean and Fun,’ so we always make sure the kids are the top priority for us,” Venkat explained. “We have three different zones: Big Kids Zone, Kids Zone, and the Mini Kids Zone, so depending on the ages, they can play in their respective zones, but especially we will have a dedicated staff monitoring zones, because we want to make sure kids are having a good time, and parents can feel secure.”
Another is affordability, along with unlimited open play. In other words, you’re not constrained to time limits because admission tickets are essentially day passes.
“It’s not like a one-time entry,” Venkat explained. “So whenever they enter, it is valid for the day, so they can go home in and out again and can come back in the evening, or they can come like after lunch—not many places do that—and we do not have any time restriction."
For little ones with birthdays coming up, Hyper Kidz could also be an ideal spot to have a party! With food included (i.e., pizza, snacks, and refreshments), but if you prefer to bring your own food, that is also acceptable for a fee.
“We have four big private party rooms, each of which has a different kind of wallpaper, so based on what kind of colors the kids like, they can choose their room, and also, even our party room packages are affordable,” Chuduri said. “So the good thing is the kids can play outside, and they can spend some time, private time in the party room."
And if you’re worried about the crowds, for a nominal (but competitive) price, you can reserve the entire playground! All in the name of keeping families happy and ensuring everyone has a great, but safe, time.
“We want to be helpful,” Venkat added. “Most of our prices are almost matching, and some are even lower than our competitors.”
