On Wednesday, Jhalmar Ariel Aguilar-Soriano, 18, was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and theft. A third suspect, a 16-year-old, was also charged with aggravated robbery and theft.

At around 11 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, HPD officers responded to the 6300 block of Skyline Drive where a man reported that his car had been stolen by a group of three individuals.

He said two of the men took off in his car, while the third got into a different car while holding a rifle.

When officers got to the scene, they were alerted to a nearby sidewalk, where a man was lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as 25-year-old Felix Caxaj Tax, was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Additional information led police to connect the two crimes.

After the carjacking, authorities believe the man with the rifle drove to the corner of Skyline Drive and Unit Drive and attempted to rob a man. The man defended himself and was shot multiple times.

Authorities were later able to locate both vehicles involved in the crimes. They attempted to detain a driver, but he fled in his car and then on foot. The driver was eventually detained and identified as Agular.

The other two teenagers are believed to have fled in the stolen car prior to the murder.
