CONROE, Texas – Two men who reportedly escaped immigration custody on Monday have been recaptured, according to authorities.

ICE identified the two men as Juan Carmen Padron Mendez, 29, and Juan Carlos Padron Barron, 23. Both from Mexico.

Conroe Police say the two were apprehended just outside the city limits of Conroe.

ICE says the two were able to escape after one got out of his restraints and choked a female border patrol agent.

The Conroe Police Department said some of its officers assisted ICE in locating the two men who escaped custody while being transported from Spring to Conroe.

Officers said the two men were in custody for a deportation hold by ICE.

According to ICE, Padron Barron has illegally entered the U.S. at least three times and was previously expelled on Dec. 13, 2022, and Jan. 1, 2023. This is the first time that U.S. immigration officials have encountered Padron Mendez.
