Man dies after car slams into power pole in northeast Harris County

HOUSTON – A driver was killed after deputies said he crashed into a power pole in northeast Harris County.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said a man was driving a Dodge Challenger on Crosby Lynchburg Road near West Melville Drive around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, when he slammed into a utility pole.

The man died on the scene. His identity has not yet been released, and deputies said they are still investigating the cause of the crash.

CenterPoint Energy was also briefly at the scene assessing the damage done to the power pole. It’s not clear if homes and businesses in the area lost power due to the crash.
