LEAGUE CITY, Texas – Police in League City have arrested a 62-year-old man they say left the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian with his vehicle.
James Collins Jr., of League City, is charged with collision involving death. His bond has been set at $250,000.

Police say the collision happened around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday in the 3300 block of W. Main Street. Officers arrived and found a man lying in the roadway. Life-saving measures were attempted, but the man succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Wednesday.
Investigators learned the victim had been struck by two vehicles. The second driver stopped, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, but the driver of the first vehicle, identified as a late-model gray Toyota Tundra, left the scene without stopping to render aid.
Detectives were able to identify Collins as the driver of the Tundra. He was taken into custody without incident Wednesday afternoon.
The case remains under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed or have video of the collision or of the victim walking in the area prior to the crash, to contact Detective Thomas at 281-554-1884.
