A Houston-area mother says her 14-year-old daughter was harassed during the Cleveland vs. Splendora football game. The parent claims an adult coach verbally assaulted her daughter and used football players to intimidate the teenager.
The mother told KPRC 2 she tried to file a complaint at the game but was denied a formal report. She says the only person she was able to speak with was the head of athletics, who she believes minimized the incident.

“She was threatened and embarrassed in front of everyone,” the mother said. “When I tried to report it, they wouldn’t even give me paperwork.”
KPRC 2 asked both Cleveland ISD and Splendora ISD for their response.
Cleveland ISD confirmed they were made aware of the complaint and say they took immediate action. In a statement, Dr. Tonya Clark, Executive Director of Communications, said the district holds employees to the Texas Educator Code of Ethics and has policies in place to maintain professionalism.
“An investigation into the reported incident has been completed, and actionable steps have been implemented for all involved,” the statement reads. “While the district does not disclose specific disciplinary measures, please be assured that appropriate action was taken in line with district policy. The safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority.”
Splendora ISD also confirmed they are aware of the incident. District officials said staff members were on site when the incident occurred and that they did receive complaints.
In a written statement, Deitra Johnson, Director of Communications, said, “Our campus and district staff have been in direct communication with the students and families involved to ensure they feel supported and have also offered additional campus support.”
The district added that while the matter took place at Cleveland ISD’s stadium, Splendora ISD is working with Cleveland ISD to ensure “an appropriate resolution occurs.”
Splendora ISD also pointed to existing safety protocols for student performers at athletic events, including administrative supervision, staff presence with student groups, and conduct expectations.
The parent says she is still frustrated with how the incident was handled.
“I feel like they wanted this to go away quietly,” she said. “I want accountability.”
The family hopes changes are made so that student performers and athletes are better protected at future games.
