Passenger jumps out of car to call 911 after driver shot, killed in NE Houston

HOUSTON – Authorities are looking for whoever killed a driver in northeast Houston early Tuesday morning.

Around 1 a.m., the Houston Police Department said a passenger inside the car called 911 after the unidentified man in the driver’s seat was shot several times on Memel Street near Kashmere Gardens.

The two were the only ones in the vehicle, a couple of blocks away from the scene where police were called, when an unidentified shooter opened fire on the driver.

The driver tried to flee, but succumbed to his injuries after driving a couple of blocks. The passenger then jumped out of the car and ran home to call 911.

No additional information has been shared, as of this writing, but an investigation remains underway.
