Brandyn Hargrove (KPRC 2)

Former Brazoswood High School teacher Brandyn Hargrove pleaded guilty Tuesday to 12 felony counts related to the sexual abuse of a student more than a decade ago.

Brazoria County District Attorney Tom Selleck confirmed to KPRC 2’s Corley Peel that Hargrove pleaded guilty to 12 total counts, including six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact, and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure.

Under the plea agreement, Hargrove received 10 years of probation with deferred adjudication for the sexual assault and indecency by contact charges. She also received 10 years of probation without deferred adjudication for the indecent exposure charges.

Additionally, she must register as a sex offender for life.

The charges stem from a 2007 case involving a former student who was between 15 and 17 years old at the time of the abuse. Hargrove, now 43, was about 27 when the alleged incidents occurred, investigators said.

Hargrove was indicted in Sept. 2023 and arrested on a $240,000 bond.

Brazosport Independent School District confirmed she was placed on administrative leave as soon as the investigation became known.

Back in 2023, Clute Police Chief James Fitch said investigators have found no evidence of additional victims.

With the plea deal, Hargrove avoids prison but remains under probation supervision and lifetime monitoring on the sex offender registry.
