Although five men have been arrested so far, investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office believe at least eight men have been involved in a string of home invasions throughout Houston and Harris County.
The investigation into the group of home invasion suspects took place after a home-invasion-style robbery took place on Friday, March 15, 2024.
According to court documents, eight men, wearing gloves, masks and carrying guns, forced their way inside a home located on Eldridge Valley Drive around 5 a.m.
According to the homeowner, he was inside his garage, getting ready to head to work, when the masked men attacked him by hitting him in the head with a gun. The men then forced their way inside his home, where his wife and child were.
The suspects gathered the husband, wife, and child together at their kitchen table while they searched through the home, looking for money and jewelry, according to court documents. The suspects found a safe and attempted to force the husband to open it, but when he couldn’t, the man said he was threatened and beaten.
Court records show the suspects were inside the home for at least 45 minutes, and got away with two safes, jewelry, and credit cards, estimated at $4,000, before locking the family of three inside a closet.
While investigating the home invasion, court documents say the Harris County Sheriff’s Office learned about a Houston-based burglary ring targeting Asian homes from police in Plano, Texas.
A detective in Plano then put Houston deputies in touch with someone claiming to know one of the men involved in the home invasion.
Deputies also learned about a second home invasion that occurred in February 2024, where at least three of the suspects arrested were involved in a home invasion, and the homeowner said his safe was stolen when a group of men broke into his home, stealing $170,000.
