Unlicensed chiropractor accused of serial sexual assaults; new victim comes forward

HOUSTON – A Harris County detective has revealed new disturbing details in the investigation of Joshua Gomez, an unlicensed chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting multiple patients over the past six years. Gomez, 43, was arrested last week in connection with a sexual assault case at One Life Chiropractic Clinic in Katy, where he was working despite having his license suspended since 2019.

Detective Amy Seaton of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, who is leading the investigation, says since his arrest, another woman recently came forward with sexual assault allegations, expanding the case to include multiple victims across Texas over the past six years.

“His predatory behavior continued to escalate, and he became more and more bold,” Seaton said.

The investigation began in December 2023 after a woman seeking postpartum pain relief reported Gomez sexually assaulted her during a procedure. Records show Gomez’s brother owns the clinic. He told investigators Gomez only handled managerial duties, but the victim believed Gomez was a licensed chiropractor.

Initially treated as a misdemeanor, Seaton said the case was upgraded to a felony after a forensic interview revealed penetration had occurred.

Seaton uncovered that Gomez’s license was suspended in 2019 due to multiple sexual misconduct allegations, including indecent exposure and assault.

“I found that there were a total of 11 other women that had made allegations. Detective Hill with Missouri City Police Department did a phenomenal job. She spoke to nine different females, but unfortunately the ones that wanted to go forward, their cases were out of statute of limitations, and the ones who were within statute of limitation, which means you can pursue charges, they did not want to pursue charges at that time,” said Seaton.

Gomez is currently out on bond for another sexual assault charge in McAllen.

The investigation now includes three sexual assault cases and 14 women with various complaints against Gomez since 2019.

Detective Seaton encourages anyone who had uncomfortable interactions with Gomez to come forward

“What happened may or may not have been a crime. But we’d love to speak with you and find out your interaction with them,” she said.

Gomez was released from Harris County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
