Downtown Aquarium’s 21-year-old white Bengal tiger dies

HOUSTON, Texas – The Downtown Houston Aquarium announced Saturday the death of its 21-year-old Bengal tiger.

Marina, the oldest tiger of any subspecies in an AZA-accredited facility, had been a part of the aquarium’s family for over 20 years. She was known for her fierce spirit, beauty and love of shredding phone books.

In honor of Marina, the Downtown Aquarium said it’s donating $2,100 to the Tiger Conservation Campaign, $100 for every year of Marina’s life.
