HOUSTON, Texas – A 12-year-old is dead after police say his west Houston apartment was shot multiple times Sunday afternoon.
Houston police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 12658 Ashford Meadow around 3 p.m.
Detectives told KPRC 2 that at least 12 shots were fired into the apartment. Although the motive remains unclear, investigators don’t believe the shooting was random.
The 12-year-old was shot in the leg and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
A Houston police detective said the child was in the living room when the gunfire erupted.
Investigators are now reviewing HOA and personal ring camera footage to identify a possible suspect.
