Lone Star College brings lifelong learning to Houston’s 50+ community

Lone Star College offers free internet service for some students and families

HOUSTON, Texas – Whether you’re into politics, painting, or Pilates, Lone Star College wants to help you stay engaged and inspired. Its Academy for Lifelong Learning is inviting locals 50+ to explore free and low-cost classes this fall.

The ALL program is open to anyone 50+, with an annual membership of just $25. Members can attend classes at any of the seven LSC campuses across the Greater Houston area. Many courses last an hour or two, while others meet over several weeks.

To kick off the fall semester, Lone Star College is hosting a series of open house events throughout August. Attendees can preview course offerings, speak with instructors and get help registering for classes.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our cherished community seniors,” said Keith Coleman, LSC-University Park’s director of Continuing Education. “We warmly encourage everyone to join us.”

Upcoming open house dates include:

  • Aug. 12: LSC-North Harris, 10 a.m.–noon
  • Aug. 13: LSC-CyFair, noon–2 p.m.
  • Aug. 14: LSC-University Park, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
  • Aug. 15: LSC-Tomball, 9–11 a.m.; LSC-Houston North Victory, 10 a.m.–noon; LSC-Kingwood, 1–3 p.m.
  • Aug. 18: LSC-Montgomery, 1–3 p.m.

“The Academy for Lifelong Learning at Lone Star College offers endless opportunities for students to engage in their favorite hobbies, make friends and learn something new,” said Mary Elaine Hansen, LSC-Tomball ALL coordinator.
