2 people were killed after police say a driver sped thru red lights and caused several crashes in Midtown on Saturday

According to Houston Police, around 2 a.m. on Saturday deputies with the Harris County Precinct 7 Constable’s Office saw the driver of a F-150 hit two vehicles along Smith Street.

Investigators said that deputies attempted to pull the driver of the F-150 over, but they sped off, running multiple red lights, until the driver crashed into a white Lexus that was traveling eastbound.

Investigators said that the Lexus spun out, struck a building and caught fire. Both occupants of the Lexus died at the scene, according to police.

Investigators said the suspect was taken into custody and showed signs of being intoxicated and is being evaluated for DWI.

According to HPD, the suspect faces murder charges because he was committing a felony when the deaths occurred. A female passenger in the suspect vehicle sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.
