Dr. Pajaro serves as professor of surgery and associate chief at Baylor College of Medicine and the chief of cardiothoracic surgery at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
The circumstances that led up to the alleged assault remain unclear at this time.
During his hearing at PC court, officials said Dr. Pajaro allegedly pushed an officer backwards, causing him to stumble and have pain in his chest. He is also accused of pushing a door into a second officer, causing the officer to fall and have knee pain.
Dr. Pajaro’s attorney argued for a $500 bond, saying that that his contact with the officer was only intended to “stop forward movement” and no punches were thrown.
The court set a $10,000 bond, citing the Code of Criminal Procedure Article 17.03, which prevents personal bonds for those charged with violent offenses.
Dr. Pajaro was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
