A Houston man allegedly attacked his mother with a hammer during an argument in June in west Harris County. Robert Babin was later arrested on July 29 and charged with murder after she died from her injuries.
Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 6:15 p.m. on June 11 to a residence on Holly Way near Barker Cypress, where they discovered the victim in the backyard, bleeding from her head and barely breathing.

According to preliminary reports, Babin and his mother were involved in a heated argument that escalated to violence when he attacked her with a hammer multiple times. After the assault, Babin reportedly sent a message to a friend through a gaming app detailing what had happened.

Investigators say the friend saw the message about two hours later and convinced Babin to call 911. Deputies arrested Babin at the home shortly after.
The victim was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition but later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities confirmed no one else was present or harmed at the home.
Babin is currently held in Harris County Jail with bond set at $350,000. He faces a murder charge and is scheduled to appear in court on September 16.
