Houston man accused of trying to smother 3-year-old with blanket

A Houston man has been charged with endangering a child after police say he attempted to smother a 3-year-old with a blanket and hit multiple children with a belt.

Rigoberto Garza Quintero, 28, was arrested Sunday afternoon at a home in the 12600 block of Kathryn Street in east Houston.

Court records also state that Quintero hit several young children with a belt.

Quintero was booked into the Harris County Jail later that day and is being held on a $30,000 bond.

His first court appearance is scheduled for July 29.
