They also discussed a recent request submitted to the Colin Kaepernick Foundation’s Know Your Rights Autopsy Initiative for help in conducting a second independent autopsy.

“This day of public witness serves as both a memorial and a firm call for justice, truth, and transparency for Tony and families facing similar tragedy,” a portion of the family’s statement read.

A second press conference will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a community memorial and balloon release at 6 p.m. to honor Tony’s life, legacy and spirit.

Funeral services have been postponed due to ongoing investigations and the family’s request for independent verification of the circumstances surrounding his death.
