HPD says it happened in the 4400 block of the North Freeway, near the intersection with E. Crosstimbers Street.

A photo from the scene shows police have taped off parts of the parking lot near the Ojos Locos restaurant.

Lt. Larry Crowson said they first received a call around 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found a car with a bullet hole in it and inside, a man who had been shot. A second man, who police say was intoxicated, was also inside. Police are speaking with him.

Shortly afterwards, another call came in from a Whataburger not far from the original shooting scene. Police arrived and found another man who had been shot along with a second uninjured man. Crowson says the two had abandoned a blue Mazda on the highway after it ran out of gas and it appeared they were headed to a hospital.

Crowson says police believe the shooting stemmed from the two groups meeting up for a drug deal. Something in the deal went wrong which led to an exchange of gunfire between the two groups.

Crowson says the two victims are in critical condition, but are expected to survive.
