Kerr County suspends search and rescue volunteers amid new flood concerns

Volunteer operations have been suspended in Kerr County as heavy rainfall has triggered flash flood warnings.

Highway 39 has also been closed to all travelers besides first responders and Kerr County residents.

“All self-deployed volunteers need to heed this warning as well for their safety,” Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said in a Facebook post.

The suspension includes both ground and river search efforts until further notice. The area is receiving around one to two inches of rain per hour.
