HOUSTON – Authorities have a man behind bars, wanted for a violent carjacking at Hobby Airport, where he also assaulted a witness for trying to intervene.

It all happened on Sunday, June 1, when the Houston Police Department said a man was dropping his daughter off at the airport terminal around 3 a.m. While getting back into his car, investigators said Tristan T. Griffin, 28, went up to the driver and punched him in the face and pull him out of the car.

An older gentleman, witnessing the incident, ran over to confront Griffin, only to get assaulted as well, hitting his head on the concrete. Griffin then got into the man’s vehicle and drove off.
The car was found three days later, abandoned, in Louisiana. Police were able to find his identity and put out an active warrant for Griffin’s arrest on Wednesday.

The next day, however, HPD confirmed the 28-year-old was found in Georgia and taken into custody.
Once he is extradited to Houston, Griffin is expected to face including robbery and injury to elderly charges.
