But a florist in Kingwood is offering help in a uniquely heartfelt way.
Kimmie Gibson, a Kingwood-area florist, was deeply moved by the extensive coverage of the deadly flood that swept through Texas’s Hill Country.
“For me, it really was just reading how fast that water rose and how these poor girls and all these victims were dying. It broke my heart. As you read more articles, it gets worse and worse,” Gibson shared.
One of the areas hardest hit was around the Guadalupe River, home to several camps, including Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian camp. Tragically, 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic have been confirmed dead.
After learning that one of the deceased campers loved flowers and dreamed of becoming a florist, Gibson felt compelled to help. She decided to provide funeral and floral arrangements not only for the victims of Camp Mystic but for as many Hill Country victims as possible.
In an Instagram post, Gibson expressed her wish to “lift a burden” by offering funeral flowers through her business, Glorious Kreations. She also invited other florists to join her effort, and so far, around 50 florists have signed up to help.
Now, Gibson is reaching out to connect with families in need.
