Texas Medical Board orders Houston woman to stop after fake Botox procedures

A Houston doctor said he has developed a drug that will make the effects of Botox last 30 percent longer.

HOUSTON, Texas – A Houston woman accused of giving illegal injections to patients at a southwest Houston cosmetic business has been issued a cease and desist order by the Texas Medical Board.

Alegna Delgado James, 32, is facing three felony charges in Harris County connected to the alleged unlicensed procedures involving fake Botox and Juvéderm. She is currently on bond.

Delgado James worked at ABS Aesthetic, located in the 7900 block of Hillcroft, which has now permanently closed, according to the cease and desist order. Houston police confirmed Thursday that nearly 10 victims have come forward since the news broke of her arrest.

Houston police arrested Delgado James in December, and records show she was charged with two additional counts of practicing medicine without a license in January.

She is accused of defrauding at least two victims out of $3,400, according to the cease and desist order, and told at least two victims that she was a medical doctor in Cuba.

But the Texas Medical Board says she was never actually licensed to practice in Texas.

The owner of the med spa, Alfredo Sabatela Soler, has also been charged and is wanted for practicing medicine without a license. Prosecutors say that he allowed her to perform the medical injections without proper permits or licenses and collected payment.

She has cooperated with the investigation, according to records, and has now been prohibited from acting as or holding herself out to be a licensed physician in the state of Texas.

If Delgado James violates the order, she could be fined $5,000 for each violation or each day of the continuing violation, according to records.

A board certified doctor, Dr. Richard LeConey from the Antiage Institute, said patients should always inspect a clinic for sterilization and product packaging.
