While it doesn’t look like a complete washout across the state and definitely not in Houston on Thursday, there are a few areas where rain and storms could show up if you are going out of town.

If you are planning to hit the road early on Thursday, expect skies to be mostly cloudy across the state starting out the day with a few areas of rain.

Right now, it appears most of the rain in the state early will be near or just south of the DFW metroplex.

By noon, more scattered showers and storms will develop further south toward the Austin area and the Hill Country. Showers should also still be ongoing closer to the Dallas area.

Showers and storms look to become more numerous by 6 p.m. on Thursday, especially around the Austin area. Areas around Waco could also be seeing increasing rainfall. The Houston area could also see a few showers and storms by the evening.

So to recap, if you are headed out I-10 towards San Antonio or up I-45 toward the DFW metroplex, be aware you could run into some showers and storms, especially toward the afternoon and evening hours. By Friday, while some showers and storms appear to be possible across the state, they should not be as numerous as on Thursday.
