A woman has died after being stabbed in a domestic violence situation in southwest Houston Sunday night.

The crime was reported at 8:37 p.m. and took place near the intersection of S Gessner Road and S Braeswood Boulevard.

The woman was reportedly found by her 13-year-old son, who came home from a nearby store and found his mother severely injured. He left the apartment and called police with a neighbor’s phone.

The woman was in the process of being given CPR when the incident was reported. An hour later, KPRC 2 learned that the woman had died.

The victim was reportedly 40 years old. She has not been identified.

Monday morning, Jose Ignacio Diaz Pina, 31, was charged with murder in connection with the stabbing. He returned to the scene after the murder and surrendered to officers.

He is being held in Harris County Jail with a bond of $1,000,000.
