After going undrafted out of Florida in 2016, Finney-Smith has played for the Dallas Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets and most recently, the Los Angeles Lakers.

In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, shooting 41.1% from 3-point range.

The Rockets anticipate Finney-Smith will be a valuable 3-and-D wing for the second unit, adding depth to a forward room that includes Kevin Durant, Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason.
