The victim was withdrawing money from an ATM when a man allegedly climbed into the bed of his truck without being noticed.

After the victim drove home, the suspect emerged, pointed a gun at him, and demanded his keys, money and cell phone. When the victim hesitated, the suspect forced him into the vehicle at gunpoint and drove away with him inside.

The suspect released the victim about half a mile from the residence and fled in the stolen truck.

Officers quickly located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect led them on a brief pursuit. The chase ended at Telephone Road and Dixie Drive after the suspect, driving at high speed, entered oncoming traffic and crashed into another vehicle.

The occupants of the vehicle the robber collided with were transported by Houston Fire Department and are in stable condition.

The suspect was also taken to a local hospital; his charges have not been released at this time.

The victim did not require hospitalization and was taken home.

Lt. Khan said the crash occurred at Dixie and Telephone. The suspect tried to evade officers further, but the truck was not drivable, and he was only able to make it about a block south near La Paseo.
