HOUSTON, Texas – Crime in the Houston Galleria garages is nothing new for most Houston residents. If it’s something you’ve witnessed personally, I’m sure you’ve heard about it.
Most of us have seen videos of crime inside the Galleria and its parking lots.
Recently, we’ve covered several garage-related shootings at the Galleria.
On June 16, Devon Nigel Sells was arrested and charged after firing shots inside the Galleria’s Yellow Garage. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the shooting led to Sells being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
In a separate shooting on June 3, a man died after being shot multiple times in the Galleria parking garage located on Alabama Street.
Marko Cinan, 23, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with that shooting.
The two shootings in one month prompted 2 Investigates to ask the Houston Police Department for the crime data inside the Houston Galleria garages this year to see if we could find a trend.
When requesting the data, we focused on 13 crimes in the orange and yellow lots: robbery, simple assault, intimidation, theft from motor vehicles, shoplifting, burglary, pocket-picking, purse-snatching, weapon law violations, theft from a building, theft of motor vehicle, and stolen property offenses.
The HPD data showed that from January 1 through June 15 in 2024 and 2025, crime was down in both years, despite the most frequent shootings.
Although overall crime is down, the Galleria’s Yellow lot experiences the highest crime, with over 200 incidents annually.
The data reveals shoplifting, motor vehicle theft, and intimidation as the main offenses occurring in the garages.
