Researchers at WalletHub looked at all 50 states with data ranging from the number of attractions, road conditions, and costs.

The results landed Texas 8th nationally for summer road trips.

The Lone Star State was also said to have the highest number of attractions and the lowest price of three-star hotel rooms. WalletHub also found Texas to have some of the best nightlife options per capita and average gas prices.

Texas was outranked, though, by Minnesota, which was named the best for road trip destinations, while Delaware was ranked at the very bottom.

“Taking a summer road trip can be a very exciting way to experience a new place, but with the prices of gas, food and accommodations still impacted by inflation, you’ll want to be in a state that makes this type of vacation affordable,” Chip Lupo, WalletHub analyst said in a statement. “Safe roads are also key, and so is having plenty of worthwhile attractions to stop at along the road. The best states for summer road trips, therefore, are those that keep costs low while providing the best driving experience and most fun activities.”
