AUSTIN, Texas – Social media influencer Brian Johnson, widely known as “Liver King,” faces criminal charges after allegedly making threats against podcast host Joe Rogan through several videos posted on Instagram.
Austin Police Department officers arrested Johnson, 47, at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin on Tuesday evening. He was charged with Terroristic Threat, a Class B misdemeanor.
Detectives began investigating after they were notified of Johnson’s Instagram profile around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The posts allegedly showed Johnson was traveling to Austin while making threatening statements directed at Rogan.
According to police documents, Rogan told investigators he’s never interacted with Johnson and perceived the social media posts as threatening.
Following their investigation, detectives secured an arrest warrant. Officers located Johnson at approximately 5:59 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel on San Jacinto Boulevard, where they took him into custody without incident.
Johnson was transported to the Travis County Correctional Complex, where he remains held on a $20,000 surety bond.
The investigation remains active, according to the Austin Police Department.
