Details are limited due to how active the investigation is, but according to the Houston Police Department, an unidentified man, 37, used his car to block a driver on Skyline Drive near Westchase earlier this week.

Police said he identified himself as an ICE agent, apparently having a badge, and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

The impersonating agent was confronted by HPD at a home Tuesday night on Wichita Street near Brays Bayou and taken into custody.

An ICE spokesperson shared the following statement with KPRC 2:

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and agents are highly trained and dedicated professionals who are sworn to uphold the law, protect the American people and support U.S. national security interests. ICE strongly condemns the impersonation of its officers or agents. This action is not only dangerous, but illegal. Imposters can be charged with various criminal offenses both at the state/local level, as well as federally (under 18 USC 912).”

No additional information has been shared, as of this writing, but an investigation is currently underway with HPD’s Major Offenders Division, which examines impersonation cases such as this.

KPRC 2 will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
