Fort Bend ISD students evacuate after man storms stage during debate tournament in Iowa

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – During the National Speech & Debate Tournament in Iowa, attended by several Fort Bend County students, a video showed a man storming the stage on Thursday.

A video posted by WOI showed the man on stage during one of the events, prompting a brief evacuation.

Fort Bend Independent School District released a statement on Friday, saying an “unidentified individual entered the stage, briefly interrupting the event. The individual was promptly subdued and removed from the premises. There were no weapons involved, and no threats were made.”

FBISD said students from Elkins High School were at the venue during the incident, but none were harmed. Students from Dulles, Clements, Hightower, and Austin High Schools were also attending the tournament but were not at the venue at the time of the incident.

WOI identified the man as 22-year-old Jayden Michael Roccaforte. They added that he is currently being charged with one count of disorderly conduct and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
