HOUSTON – Authorities say a 16-year-old suspect who escaped from METRO PD’s interview room while being questioned about a shooting Thursday morning that injured a woman, is now back in custody.

METRO PD says the shooting happened around 5:30 a.m. at a bus stop shelter near the 900 block of Crosstimbers at Airline. A male suspect shot a woman in her early forties in the head and fled the scene in that shooting. The woman was transported to the hospital and successfully underwent surgery. She is said to be in critical, but stable condition.
Police say a K-9 unit from HPD was able to capture the suspect soon after the shooting. The teenage suspect was taken to a hospital after being bit by a K-9 officer. Later, he was brought to METRO PD headquarters for questioning.
Authorities say the suspect, although handcuffed, was able to escape from the room at METRO PD’s headquarters at 810 San Jacinto. METRO PD says the suspect escaped around 5:30 p.m.
Houston Police say the suspect was recaptured near the 5500 block of Fulton Street around 6:50 p.m.
