An incredible update to a story KPRC 2 aired earlier this week.
Lunches of Love in Rosenberg, the non-profit which feeds thousands of kids in need over the summer, was able to raise $5,000.
KPRC 2 sent out the call to the Houston community, and Houston showed up!
Houston businessman Randy Hartley was one of those community members who stepped in to help.
Hartley went to Lunches of Love and met with Director Elizabeth Fairfield.
He presented her with a large check.
“I wanted to come by and donate a check for 2000 dollars to you guys,” said Randy Hartley.
“Oh my goodness, thank you!” said Elizabeth Fairfield.
“I was so impressed and so moved by it that I wanted to come over here and meet you directly and donate 2 thousand dollars to you,” added Hartley.
Hartley also challenged the community to give, as well.
If Lunches of Love was able to raise another thousand dollars, he would match it.
“We are so blessed for this, we are a home grown family and community based organization and we just want to do good in the community we want to make a positive difference and make a change in these kids’ lives,” says Director of Lunches of Love, Elizabeth Fairfield.

Lunches of Love in Rosenberg feeds almost 2000 children every single day during the entire summer.
It feeds 2500 kids every weekend during the school year at 38 Lamar Consolidated Schools.
Lunches of Love has been getting really low on donations, but the biggest items they need now are water and juice boxes.
$5,000 is enough to cover about two days worth of lunches for the summer.
Lunches of Love has eight more weeks of summer left.
