A look at Houston’s 10 most expensive homes sold in May 2025

HOUSTON – It was a record-setting month for high-end real estate in Houston, with multiple multi-million-dollar homes changing hands in some of the city’s most prestigious neighborhoods.

According to property records from HAR.com , May marked one of the busiest months for luxury home sales in Houston.

The highest-priced home in May was a $13,995,000 estate in River Oaks’ exclusive Tall Timbers section. The 16,635-square-foot mansion on Inverness Drive, built in 2009, was listed and sold by Nan & Company Properties’ Nancy Almodovar.

Another notable listing on the same street followed just days later. A 7,473-square-foot home at 4004 Inverness Drive, originally built in 1974, was listed for $8,850,000. Almodovar represented the seller, while Compass RE Texas’ Mike Mahlstedt represented the buyer’s side.

In the Memorial Villages, a newly built estate in Hedwig Village closed for $6,990,000. The 14,654-square-foot property on Beinhorn Road was sold on May 15 by Laura Bonck of eXp Realty LLC.

Other significant listings last month included:

  • A $6,900,000 estate in Hunters Creek Village’s Hunterwood subdivision.
  • A 1929-built River Oaks mansion on Kirby Drive, listed at $6,595,000.
  • Two homes on Shadder Way in River Oaks, priced at $6,000,000 and $5,000,000 respectively.

Outside Houston, one of the highest listings sold in Galveston was a waterfront home on Christmas Tree Point Road in The Enclave at Pirates Cove, listed for $5,250,000.

A custom 8,114-square-foot home on Meadow Lake Lane in River Oaks sold in May after being listed for $5,400,000. Built in 2007, the property was represented by Laura Sweeney of Compass RE Texas, who also handled the seller’s listing.

In Houston’s Oak Estates, a newly constructed 7,004-square-foot home on Wickersham Lane sold in early May. The home was listed for $4,550,000, with Mike Mahlstedt of Compass RE Texas representing both the seller and buyer.

A modern 2025 construction (HAR)

A historic 1925-built home on South Boulevard in the Rice/Museum District also sold last month. The 6,169-square-foot property was listed for $4,250,000 by Cathy Blum of Greenwood King Properties, with Ellen Harrington of Keller Williams Memorial representing the buyer.
